I have worked within education for 21 years in teaching and senior management roles. My passion has been supporting and mentoring staff and students to achieve their full potential, especially those with special educational needs. For the past 7 years I have worked in a specialist ASD school working with students and adults on the autistic spectrum. I can honestly say it has been the most rewarding part of my career to date.
Fast forward to now, I took voluntary redundancy from my role of Deputy Head of this specialist ASD provision in 2019, a completely terrifying thought! I genuinely loved my job and the students/staff that I worked with are incredible. However I can honestly say that opening the door to see what new opportunities are out there has been a positive experience for me. I am now the director of my own business The Spectrum Guru and all the colours of the Spectrum are shining through. The principle behind the Spectrum Guru is to provide effective autism awareness training into educational provisions and the workplace and provide support/mentorship for individuals with autism.
Recently I have been fortunate enough to meet many inspirational people both within business and education who have all helped me to shape the direction of The Spectrum Guru. I am very grateful for all the support that I have been given. I truly believe that by providing effective strategies, information and understanding that supports the needs of all individuals, real meaningful inclusion and neurodiversity can be achieved.
